I never realized how truly petty the people living in this country could be until tonight.
McCain delivered a statement, saying he wants to take a couple days off of the election, postpone his debate, and work on the economic crisis in Washington.
Some people, however, have decided to bash him for this decision, saying it's an obvious cop out. To those people, I have to say that you are the most petty individuals I've encountered. It's one thing to deliver an argument and have facts to back it up. To at least have facts to explain why you think the way you do. I have no issues with that. But to make a decision based solely on opinion and try to put it out there like it's fact... that's just stupidity. There is no evidence that McCain did this to get out of the debate. Maybe I'm not like you, but I don't think people are fundamentally evil. If Obama had done this, I would feel it was just as noble of a situation as I do right now. Country comes before campaigning. The amount of disrespect coming out of people over this is astounding to me, and it makes me ashamed to even be classed as "American" with them. God forbid he wants to do something for this country, right? He can't possibly have good intentions.. he's McCain, for cripe's sake! Get a grip. Just because you don't like him does not mean he's evil and ill prepared. Grow up. Show some respect for what he's doing. And keep in mind that the Obama campaign claims to have initiated the talks about possibly taking a few days off, and that McCain just beat him to the punch.
I'm not asking for a reply. And frankly, if you're one of those people who believe McCain is pulling a political stunt, I don't want one. And I say that because I will never understand your point of view. I will never understand how you can perceive someone as being so incredibly evil that a seemingly good action could be blown way through the roof and out of proportion. That's not respect. That's pure pettiness.
You sit there and you ask yourself what your thoughts & feelings would be if Obama had done this. Again, I don't want a reply. But you ask yourself what you'd feel. Ask yourself what you'd think.. and I think you might find something entirely opposite than you're finding right now.
Politics can wait. Elections can wait. America must go on.

Well, you looked at my page and wrote this. Thats fine. I have removed you as a friend if this is how you feel about my opinions. Bye.
Although I wouldn't deny this was a political stunt, the proposal merits something the US wants its congress to address. And you can't blame McCain for doing this. It was a win-win situation whether Obama would or would not oblige. The former would make McCain look like he has more leadership for initiating the proposal while the latter would make Obama look like he was more concerned with campaign politics than the economy (contrary to his 2 minute commericial).
I don't think McCain was expecting Obama to accept his proposal anyway. If he had it would've not only benefited HIM by extending preparation time for the debate (which I think is the main argument of democrats) but also benefited the country in addressing the issue.
The ends would justify the means.
I think people should imagine what their reaction would be if Obama thought of this first - which I don't think he can since it would've verified his avoiding debates since the primaries with Clinton and townhall debates with McCain from the summer.
@megank1991 - ??
I didn't write this because of anything you wrote. It was because of comments I read on a McCain YouTube video. I didn't read what you wrote..
Amen!! Isn't it said that we have the media with the most freedom the whole world over and it's nothing more than another form of entertainment for some American's. They don't report the news-they report crap.
At least he won't vote "present" like coward Obama.
I totally agree with your post. We are headed into another great depression and all some people want to do is act like petulant babies, take the man-child Obama himself bitching like a little boy he is because he might have to go back to Washington and actually do his JOB.
The economy is about to crash and even Bill Clinton blamed the do-nothing democrats today for it.
We are living in the last days of this Republic as we know it. I for one am prepared.
All this fuss is because the liberals dominate the media so much. Yellow journalism and biased coverage. Although I do believe that people are inherently evil, I tend to trust conservatives more than liberals, and Republicans more than Democrats. The liberal media has become as extreme as Aljazeera, and that makes it hard for me to take them seriously.
@jmsnooks - Yeah, I've noticed that.
They own the media. We have FOX and they get all red-faced and huffy about it.
Hey where'd ya disappear to?
@PXwanderer - The magical land underneath my bed.
Jokes jokes. I took a timeout for school and work.
